Respected parents, my dear teachers and students

Warm greetings to all… Yet another new academic year is ahead of us. By God’s grace let us make this year more fruitful, effective, creative and productive. Mater Dei is proud of its dedicated staff and students. My wish and prayer is that let Mater Dei illumine the dark minds through her knowledge and wisdom.

Meticulous planning and timely execution always bring perfection, School journal is an aid to achieve this sort of perfection. How to plan and how to execute is important for better co-ordination. Good co-ordination is the character mark of an excellent leader. In fact Mater Dei always envision global leaders a leader who is capable to lead the team with a better co-ordination

Robert Greene recalling the words of Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google in his 48 Laws of Power writes that the Modern Education needs adapetabilby. This adaptability should start from going beyond the scheduled curriculum it makes children to equip themselves to face the real world challenges. He quotes: A holistic education, blending academics with real world experiences will cultivate a generation of thinkers and innovators”. Many of our present generation is deprived of this ability to adaptabilty and make their life good for nothing. Here is the role of holistic and adaptable education. Each and every extra curriculur activites should make education life oriented. The “Ad Astra” the spectacular exhibition which we all witnessed last year is an epitome of holistic and integral education. The dream and vision of Mater Dei is not to train the students to become intellectual giants but to form and inculcate in them a good knowledgable leader with better human qualities. Heart, hand and mind should work together. Akindful heart to listen and understand

the other, hands to stretch out and reach out others in their needs, a contemplativo mind to concentrate and focus on the world around and take wise decisions Behind each and every successful endeavours there is tremendous amount of hard work. The missile man of India, the former President, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam once said “If you want to shine like a sun, first bum like a sun.” My dear beloved children, behind every shining” there is a process of “buming”. Sun cannot shine without burning 50, you want to be shining stars be ready to bum through your hardworks and efforts. These efforts are a little painful. But it will bear fruit. Once again wishing

you all God’s abundant blessings and a wonderful and effective academic year

ahead may I remain

Thanking you

“If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.” These words of Zig Ziglar, an American motivational speaker sums up the aim of education. Education is a birthright and we, the members of Mater Dei family, ensure that our children attain integral growth, prolific advancement of their potentials and remarkable success in their near future. We, empower them with the confidence to conquer great heights in their pursuit of wisdom, the courage to revitalize their dormant skills and the fraternal love to prosper in diverse conditions.

It has been a pleasure to engage in this nurturing of future gems, who I believe would dictate the course of our society in the days to come. Mater Dei, is not just a name but a family which stays together, toils together and builds together the citizens of tomorrow. She equips her off springs with a sense of coalescence despite their cultural differences, a sense of belongingness despite their varied backgrounds and a sense of  equivalence despite their diverse socio-cultural perspectives.

We work tirelessly to enlighten the minds of our students with an all-inclusive and vibrant curriculum which allows them to dream bigger, work harder and live better. Thus, we accompany them to get a clearer, purer and transparent vision of the world free from all sorts of bias and prejudices. Hence, with overwhelming joy and sense of gratitude, I wish you all the blessings and greetings of this new academic year. May, the almighty Lord strengthen you always.

We announce the theme of the year as ‘Sustainable Living’

Sustainable living is more than just a trendy catchphrase; it’s a vital philosophy that holds the key to our planet’s future. At its core, sustainable living seeks to strike a balance between meeting the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In essence, it’s about fostering harmony between humans and the environment, recognizing that our actions have far-reaching consequences.

One of the most pressing reasons for embracing sustainable living is the urgency of mitigating climate change. The burning of fossil fuels for energy, deforestation, and industrial processes have led to a significant increase in greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in global warming and its associated impacts: rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and disruptions to ecosystems. By transitioning to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and lessen the severity of climate change.

Furthermore, sustainable living promotes resource conservation. Our planet has finite resources, from fresh water and arable land to minerals and fossil fuels. By practicing responsible resource management and reducing waste generation, we can ensure that these resources are available for future generations. For example, water conservation measures such as installing low-flow faucets and harvesting rainwater can help alleviate water scarcity in regions experiencing drought.

Additionally, sustainable living fosters biodiversity conservation, Human activities such as habitat destruction, pollution, and overexploitation of natural resources have contributed to a loss of biodiversity worldwide. Protecting and restoring ecosystems, preserving endangered species, and practicing sustainable agriculture are all integral components of promoting biodiversity conservation. For instance, organic farming methods prioritize soil health and biodiversity by avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, thus promoting a more resilient and ecologically balanced agricultural system.

Moreover, sustainable living promotes social equity and economic resilience. Many environmental issues disproportionately affect marginalized communities, exacerbating existing social inequalities. By promoting access to clean air, water, and green spaces for all, sustainable living can help address environmental justice issues and promote social cohesion. Additionally, investing in renewable energy and green infrastructure can create new job opportunities and stimulate economic growth while reducing our dependence on finite resources and volatile fossil fuel markets.

One concrete example of the importance of sustainable living is the phenomenon of plastic pollution. Single- use plastics such as plastic bags, bottles, and packaging have inundated our oceans, rivers, and landfills, posing a grave threat to marine life and ecosystems. By reducing our reliance on single-use plastics and adopting reusable alternatives, we can help stem the tide of plastic pollution and protect our oceans for future generations.

Another example is the impact of unsustainable agricultural practices on food security and public health. Industrial agriculture relies heavily on synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and monoculture cropping systems, which degrade soil health, pollute waterways, and contribute to biodiversity loss. By supporting regenerative agriculture practices such as crop rotation, agroforestry, and organic farming, we can promote soil fertility, enhance ecosystem resilience, and ensure a more sustainable food system for all.

In conclusion, the importance of sustainable living cannot be overstated. It is a fundamental paradigm shift that acknowledges our interconnectedness with the natural world and seeks to promote harmony, resilience, and equity for present and future generations. By embracing sustainable practices in our daily lives, from energy consumption and waste management to food choices and transportation, we can collectively work towards building a more sustainable and equitable world for all.

Thank you

Warm Regards
